Erin Michael O’Toole

Erin O’Toole is a corporate lawyer in Heenan Blaikie’s Toronto office. His practice focuses on advertising and marketing, competition law, intellectual property and general corporate law matters. Erin has considerable experience in energy law, litigation, infrastructure and corporate governance issues.

For several years, Erin served as in-house counsel at Procter & Gamble, the world’s largest consumer goods company. In this role, he provided legal advice to the healthcare, beauty and paper business units and managed litigation for Canada. He also created a Brand Protection program to combat the distribution of counterfeit branded goods in Canada. Prior to joining P&G, Erin practiced corporate litigation and energy law with Stikeman Elliott LLP in Toronto.  In 2009, Erin was nominated as one of Tomorrow’s Leaders at the Canadian General Counsel Awards.

Prior to a career in law, Erin served as an officer in the Canadian Forces. He flew as a tactical navigator on the Sea King helicopter and sailed with the Canadian Navy. During his time in the Canadian Forces, Erin was awarded a Sikorsky Helicopter Rescue Award and the Canadian Forces Decoration.

Erin holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree from the Royal Military College of Canada and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Dalhousie University. He has served on a number of charitable and non-profit boards, including the Board of Governors of the Royal Military College. Erin lives in Courtice, Ontario with his wife Rebecca and their children Mollie and Jack.
